SUMMARY

All of the examples in this section are of our own work, which we hope will give you some inspiration for your event. Looking at past events can help to establish what you like, and don’t like, to develop a clear picture of your requirements. At this stage some people choose to employ a wedding or party planner to bring all of their ideas together into a coherent brief.

Whilst every event is completely bespoke, this section aims to outline how we interpret a brief, the equipment we suggest and a guide to the costs. We try to be clear about what we provided and what was supplied by the client, party planner or other contractors.

TO DISCUSS YOUR EVENT

Arrange a site meeting to discuss how a marquee would work at your venue.

THE BRIEF

This marquee was built for a birthday party with around 180 guests. Guests used the house and patio in addition to a complex of marquees for reception drinks, bar and lounge, and dining and dancing.

The event also required heating, power, loos and a kitchen marquee.

THE PLANS

We worked alongside a party planner and a specialist AV company to develop three distinct marquee spaces for the party.

The reception space, which was built over an olive tree, was open sided an lead out onto the patio. This marquee had a clear roof and was connect to the house. The dining room was finished in white with a fuchsia carpet and a festoon of different coloured paper lanterns. The bar area was finished in a blackout material with windows opening back on to the patio area.

THE BUILD

The build was spread over two days. The floor of the dining room was raised by about 40cm to bring it to the same level as the patio. On the first day the floor was constructed and the marquees were installed. On the second day we installed carpet, lining and the paper lantern lighting and worked alongside the AV company who handled rest of the lighting, the electrical distribution and sound equipment.

We only had vehicle access as far as the front of the house and all materials had to be brought around the house through a narrow passageway. The restricted access to the rear of the house meant positioning the loos, generator and refrigerated catering vehicles had to be carefully orchestrated.

THE PARTY

Marquees & Pavilions provided structures, flooring, lining and carpet for the event. We also supplied the loos and heaters.

The client asked Papillon Events to work as their event planner. Papillon brought in a specialist AV company to design the marquee lighting and to illuminate the garden and house.

Thyme Out Events handled the catering.
