FAQS… ANSWERS TO ALL YOUR QUESTIONS…
Are marquees suitable for winter events?
Yes, high quality marquees can be used all year round.
Clear span and frame marquees are a more suitable option for winter events as they are more robust and weatherproof than stretch tents or sailcloth marquees.
Raised wooden flooring is also an essential to keep guests warm and dry, as is adequate heating.
How do you heat a marquee in winter?
You can easily heat a marquee by adding thermostatically controlled warm air heaters. Placed strategically around the marquee, your guests will be welcomed with a cosy and comfortable temperature whatever the weather outside.
Our bespoke plan and quote will advise you on the number of heaters required, based on size of the marquee hired and number of guests attending your event.
How much does it cost to hire a marquee?
The cost of hiring a marquee depends on a number of factors including the style of marquee preferred, number of guests attending and additional upgrades required.
Our marquee hire pricing guide provides some examples of the cost of hire based on typical configurations.
What should I consider when hiring a winter marquee?
When thinking of holding a winter event in a marquee, there are a few key considerations to ensure the comfort and enjoyment of your guests.
Heating: To keep your guests warm and cosy you’ll need to make sure your marquee is adequately heated. We provide thermostatically controlled warm air heaters to help maintain a comfortable temperature inside the marquee.
Protection from the elements: While the marquee will keep guests warm and dry for the main event, it’s also a good idea to consider providing protection from the weather as guests travel to and from the marquee. For example when visiting the toilets. If your hiring loos, a simple solution could be to place the toilets in a small adjoining marquee to remove the need to go outside. This could also double up as a cloakroom for guests to leave coats and umbrellas. If loos are already on site but a short walk away, then creating a covered walkway to and from their location will be a considerate gesture that your guests will appreciate.
Lighting: Long evenings and darker winter days call for thoughtful lighting. Twinkling fairy lights, festoons and chandeliers can create a magical and intimate atmosphere inside the marquees. External lighting can also be used to highlight views and features of the surrounding landscape, as well as being used to light paths to and from the marquee and nearby amenities.
Cosy elements: Providing thoughtful extras like blankets, cushions and plush seating areas can add to the warmth and comfort of your event, as well as helping to add some personal touches to your styling.
Winter-themed catering: Serving warm drinks like hot chocolate or mulled wine, and hearty seasonal dishes like soups, stews and casseroles, or simple snacks like a charcuterie board can complement the winter setting.
Decor: A winter event provides limitless ideas for styling your marquee. For weddings consider incorporating elements that evoke a winter wonderland, such as pine cones, snowflakes, or winter-themed floral arrangements. For a Christmas party take inspiration from Santa’s North Pole grotto, or embrace the Danish concept of Hygge with candle light, natural materials and plush soft furnishings in neutral colours.
Accessibility: Ensure the marquee is easily accessible for guests, especially those with mobility issues, and that restrooms are conveniently located. As part of our planning process, we will advise on how to best to set up your marquee to be suitable for all guests.
Flexibility: Marquees offer flexibility in terms of size, layout and location. This allows for creativity in tailoring your marquee to get the most from your venue and meet your specific needs.
Budget: Ensure you have sufficient budget to cover not just the hire of the marquee, but also the internal finishes (e.g. flooring, tables, chairs, lighting, dancefloor) and essentials such as generators, heating, electrics and toilets. Our guide to marquee hire prices provides you with an idea of how much a finished marquee will cost.
Safety: Marquees are generally safe, but it’s essential to work with a reputable supplier and ensure all safety regulations are followed. Marquees and Pavilions are MUTA members, who abide by a Best Practice Guide including safe working practices.
How many guests can you cater for in a marquee?
Our marquees can be configured to comfortably cater for events with 100 to 200 guests.
Do you work with event planners?
Yes, we’re used to working alongside wedding and event planners, florists and caterers to make sure all requirements are met in a timely and efficient fashion.
